UK GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE

This blog will mainly summarize the Government structure in the UK .



In the UK parliament and government both play a role in making the laws . They are different organisations  that work hand in hand in the law formation .

Government

The country is being run by the government .Drafting laws and policies is the responsibility of the government. It is also known as the Executive.

Parliament

In the UK  the highest legislative authority is the parliament . Examining ,checking and aapproving the work of the government is its job. It is also known as the Legislature.

The Four Different Regions in the United Kingdom

This blog is going to discuss the four different regions, some of their cultures, languages and population. The United Kingdom is comprises of four different regions. These include:
  • England
  • Wales
  • Scotland
  • Northern Ireland



ENGLAND

England is the biggest of the four regions in the UK. England  consists of hundreds of smaller islands.  With a population over 7 million, London is the said to be the largest city in England. It's also known as the third largest city in Europe (World Population Review,2013). Birmingham in England is the holder of the largest arts  festival called art-fest. People come around to display talents such as classical music ,traditional songs and stand-up comedy(England art and culture,2013).

SCOTLAND

In the united kingdom Scotland occupies the northern third of Great Britain. It consists of over 700 small islands and lies around several different seas. With a population of over 5 million Scotland is still highlighted  on the friendliness of its people, or is it culture that makes Scotland such a wonderful place ,from the bagpipes to the haggis and the kilts or the astonishing festivals,Scotland stands its ground as an amazing region in the UK(Scottish culture and tradition 2013) .

Wales is found at the west of England and has a population of over 3 million. Wales has a lot of love for art and culture which led them to having the most famous literary and arts festival in the world. Love for sports in wales is not something new as there is a lot of love for football and rugby. The Ryder cup  when held in Wales became the third largest sporting event in the world(about Wales - sport 2013).


NORTHERN IRELAND

Northern Ireland is a part of the UK which has a population of over 1.6 million, with this population, it is the smallest country in the UK. English is the most popular language in the UK but the people in Northern Ireland also speak Irish. Also in Northern Ireland the most popular sport is rugby.(Facts about Northern Ireland 2013).

The Education system in the UK and my country Nigeria

This blog is going to talk about the education system in the Uk  and the education system in Nigeria. First I will start with the education system in the Uk .

UNITED KINGDOM'S SYSTEM

 Basically there are two education systems in the UK , England ,Wales  and Northern Ireland share the education system in which students write a smaller number of advanced exams which emphasize the breadth of the first education system, while Scotland uses an education system whereby students write a large amount of further examinations(British education system 2013).

NIGERIA'S SYSTEM

There is one  overall education system in Nigeria which is used by all the countries. During the school years of a child in Nigeria they often write a lot of exams, from the primary  to secondary and tertiary education , students will witness a lot of exams.

Visit to the Welsh assembly

On our visit to the Welsh assembly we discovered that the senedd is where the laws in Wales are made and the building is called the senedd . in the building there is a small gallery at the top and from the top if you look under you could get a view of the constituency members in the meeting. the senedd is made up of 60 assembly members from across Wales .The assembly members are elected by the people of Wales also the people of Wales vote to grant the Welsh assembly more powers.

HISTORY AND LAW-MAKING POWERS OF THE WELSH ASSEMBLY

WELSH ASSEMBLY

The democratically elected body that represents the people of Wales,does the law formation and keeps the government account is The National Assembly. There are 60 elected members in the assembly .  The Senedd in Cardiff Bay is the home of the debating chamber for the National Assembly for Wales. Every 4 years the election to the Welsh Assembly is held.

the senned is where the laws are formatted in Wales, also on our visit to the welsh assembly we were told to be quiet and should not even talk, there were paintings above the senedd and a coffee place, the presiding officer was in control of the meeting.
